Mormons in California Called to Defend Marriage by Top LDS Leaders

Read from the pulpit Sunday was a letter from our LDS leaders with a call to "do all that you can" to defend the traditional definition of marriage that is being voted upon in the upcoming elections in November in California. This is a great article that discusses that letter and the duty we have as LDS members to defend this great cause.

Make sure you read the comments that follow the article, they are just as informational as the article itself. One I loved in particular was from Ama, it gave an example of what may occur in the future if this marriage is redefined. This new definition of marriage could open up a proverbial can of worms. If you read this article make sure to make your own opinion known by voting a thumbs up and getting involved with a comment of your own.

Rarely do our leaders request that we become involved in political issues assuming a stance for one issue over another. When they do, we must listen to what they are saying. This is a time to open our mouths.

Recently I read a blog post by an ex-Mormon who was blasting "religious" folks for trying legislate their morality on everyone else. He had a long litany of why same sex marriages should be legalized. His attitude told me if I posted my opinion he would blast me. So instead I just posted the last part of the chapter of Romans 1 where the Apostle Paul tells what God thinks of homosexuality and lesbianism. It made him mad that I refused to post my own opinion and he said I didn't know how to think for myself. I told him that there was no value in me posting my opinion because we would end up just trying to one up the other. I said, I posted God's opinion on the issue and he could fight with God over it.
I applaud Mormons for standing up for traditional marriage.

Marsha,
I do feel like this is an important issue for everyone. Unfortunately the challenge that is being issued to redefine marriage is a major concern that is being covered up by the same sex propaganda. I feel that should be a red flag warning in itself.

Also, the fact that the decision was carried out despite the vote of the people should be another red flag for all people, everywhere.

Religiously we believe as LDS that marriage is ordained of God and is between a man and a woman. That definition has been clearly made and is uncompromising.

Christians uniting everywhere must teach correct principles and that is done precisely as you have done.

Thank you for your comments.
